Sainte-Catherine St. W and McGill College

Painter and sculptor Jean Pronovost and an experienced film crew came up with the idea of exhibiting a colossal sculpture with a controversial mythological theme right where Sainte-Catherine and McGill College meet. This sculpture will be exhibited at that very intersection on May 1, 2007, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Displaying this 8-foot tall sculpture is a way of taking the arts out of museums and bringing them in the streets. By simply presenting the sculpture to passersby—without any kind of notice or protocol—the artist will seek to make them react to the contrast that art, when it is removed from its usual context, inevitably produces with the concrete buildings and the often jaded workers from these areas.
